A question.

I think this may be a stupid question but I do need an answer.
Singapore just turned 43. Before that it was part of the Federation of Malaysia.
So Singapore exists as an independant country since 1965.
How is it possible that Singapore clinched its first Olympic medal 48 years ago?

Paradoxical Carrie a dit…

In 1960 when Singapore's weightlifter Tan Howe Liang won the first Olympics medal for Singapore in Rome, Singapore was a self-governing state under British rule (not an independent country yet).

It was in Sept 1963 tat we merged with "Federation of Malaya", Sabah and Sarawak to form Malaysia but in less than 2 yrs' time we were expelled from Malaysia against our will and became independent in Aug 1965.
